California University of Pennsylvania is proud to present “Technology Today,” a new quarterly television program focusing on science, technology and engineering in western Pennsylvania.

The program’s first episode, which explores the link between technology and education, airs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday on KDKA-TV. Among the guests appearing with host John Cline will be Cal U’s interim president, Geraldine M. Jones.

New ad debuts

The 30-minute “Technology Today” program also marks the debut of Cal U’s latest television advertisement, part of an integrated, multi-channel campaign dubbed “The World Is Waiting … for You.”

The new commercial illustrates the University’s wide range of academic options with dozens of images taken on campus.

“We wanted the ad to showcase all the amazing opportunities available at Cal U, so we decided to show real Cal U students, in real situations,” says Craig Butzine, the University’s vice president for Marketing and University Relations.

“This ad gives viewers an authentic look at how wide-ranging the Cal U experience can be.”

Multi-channel approach

The TV ad is just one component of a brand awareness campaign that also includes radio, print and outdoor advertising. Developed with input from focus groups of current and prospective students, the campaign emphasizes the 130+ programs of study that Cal U has to offer.

In-depth vehicles such as“Technology Today” zero in further, focusing attention on the University’s special mission in science and technology, and its links with the region’s workforce.

“Students today are incredibly serious,” Butzine says. “Over and over, they told us that academic programming was their No. 1 concern when it came time to select a college. We want to open their eyes to the possibilities waiting for them at Cal U.”
