California University of Pennsylvania's women’s soccer team has received a bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament. The sixth-seeded Vulcans (12-4-4) will play a first-round game against Kutztown University Nov. 14 at West Chester, beginning at noon.
Coached by Glenn Francis, Cal U is making its sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament. The women advanced to the national quarterfinals in 2011 and in 2009.
Last week at the conference tournament Cal U defeated Slippery Rock at home before losing at eventual PSAC champion East Stroudsburg in the semifinals.
The winner of the California-Kutztown game will face the second seed, host West Chester (16-2-1), in the second round at noon Nov. 16.
East Stroudsburg is hosting the other first two rounds of the Atlantic Regional competition.
The finalists in the Atlantic region will square off in the third and quarterfinal rounds on Nov. 21 and 23 at the home field of the highest remaining seed in the Atlantic Region.
The NCAA Division II national semifinals and championship matches are scheduled for Dec. 4 and 6 at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium in Louisville, Ky.
