2015 Lavender Graduation
11 a.m.-1 p.m. April 21
Cal U Convocation Center, North Wing
The Lambda Bridges LGBTQA Program Office invites the campus community to celebrate the accomplishments of Cal U’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, asexual and ally graduating seniors.
The second annual Lavender Graduation at Cal U will include guest speakers, a luncheon, and an awards ceremony. There is no cost to attend.
Deadline for graduates to register is April 10. Learn more and register now.
Who attends Lavender Graduation?
The ceremony honors undergraduate and graduate students who are completing their degree requirements in May, August or December 2015.
Each graduate may identify a mentor to honor at the ceremony. Graduates are encouraged to invite faculty, staff, family and friends who have contributed to their success at Cal U. This is an opportunity for students to honor their allies and mentors, and to serve as an example for other LGBTQA graduates.
Students do not have to be LGBTQA or actively involved with LGBTQA issues on campus to participate.
What about the official California University graduation?
Lavender Graduation does NOT replace Commencement. Students who attend Lavender Graduation are encouraged to walk with their graduating class at Commencement, AND to may wear their lavender stole as a sign of community pride.
