Manderino Library will present Koran By Heart: One Chance to Remember from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. April 16, in the library.

The HBO documentary follows the progress of three 10-year-old scholars, a girl and two boys, as they compete against other students, some twice their age, in a contest called the International Holy Koran Competition.

A short discussion and question-and-answer session will be led by a Kaddour Boukaabar, a professor at Cal U in the Department of Math, Computer Science and Information Systems.

The public is invited to attend.

The film is part of the Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys, a collection of books, films and other resources that discuss the complex history and culture of Muslims in the United States.

Cal U is one of the institutions selected to receive this collection, which is made possible by the National Endowment for the Humanities in cooperation with the American Library Association. Support was provided by a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
