Bottled water distribution
11 a.m.-2 p.m. May 4, 2016
Adamson Stadium parking area,
Roadman Park
Representatives of households and organizations in California Borough, including groups at California University of Pennsylvania, may pick up a free case of bottled water between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. May 4 in the Adamson Stadium parking area at Roadman Park, on the upper campus.
The distribution of fresh, bottled drinking water is being organized by Cal U in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS), which is providing the water, and the American Red Cross.
Why are we doing this?
California University of Pennsylvania is part of an emergency network that provides services when called upon by county and state emergency management agencies.
“This exercise allows DHS to rotate its emergency drinking water supply,” explains Sharon Elkettani, director of Environmental Health and Safety at Cal U.
“At the same time, it gives the University a hands-on opportunity to practice its distribution protocols — the same procedures we would use to distribute water or other supplies if this was an emergency situation.”
Pick up your free water
Borough residents and organizations are encouraged to take advantage of the water distribution.
Volunteers will be on hand to help residents load the bottled water into their cars.
There is no fee to receive the case of water, and no obligation. Registration is not required, but a small amount of information (ZIP code, number of people in the household) will be collected at the distribution site.
